Perth's Eastern Region stretches from the edge of the Perth CBD, along the Swan River, to the Swan Valley, and up to the Perth Hills.
Home to approximately 300,000 people from diverse cultural backgrounds, Perth's Eastern Region is one of the city's fastest growing areas.
The Region encompasses 2,100 square kilometres or around one-third of the Perth metropolitan area and includes substantial parklands, river foreshore areas, national parks, state forests and water catchments.
The Region is a major transport hub, accommodating the international and domestic airport terminals and Kewdale Intermodal Freight Terminal, as well as major roads and rail infrastructure linking Perth to regional centres of the state and to the rest of Australia.
The EMRC's six member Councils include the Town of Bassendean, City of Bayswater, City of Belmont, Shire of Kalamunda, Shire of Mundaring and City of Swan.

In 2006 the estimated output of industry in Perth's Eastern Region totalled $39,649 million (REMPLAN 3, 2009). The key industry sectors in the Region include manufacturing, transport and storage, wholesale trade, construction, business services, retail and mining.
