The Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council (EMRC) and its Community Task Force are seeking feedback from the community on the draft Community Partnership Agreement (CPA) prepared for the proposed Resource Recovery Facility.
The Community Task Force (CTF) was formed in July 2010 to develop a CPA in relation to the development and performance of the proposed Resource Recovery Facility.
The CTF works on behalf of and in consultation with the broader community within Perth's Eastern Region. CTF members have brought community input from their own local community links and used feedback from a community forum held in September 2010 to prepare the CPA.
EMRC Chairman, Cr Graham Pittaway OAM, said "The Community Partnership Agreement represents a commitment by EMRC to work with the community to make sure that the construction and ongoing operation of the Resource Recovery Facility is developed in the best interests of the community.
We encourage residents and organisations to review the draft CPA and to provide us with their valuable feedback and comments."
Once finalised, the CPA will form part of the tender documentation, which tenderers will be required to address. It will also provide indicators through which EMRC and the facility operator will benchmark their performance and report back to the community.
The planned facility will be built at the Red Hill Waste Management Facility and will process household waste from EMRC's six member Council areas: Bassendean, Bayswater, Belmont, Kalamunda, Mundaring and Swan.
The CPA is available at www.emrc.org.au/latest-update.html or by phoning EMRC on (08) 9424 2222. Submissions on the CPA must be received by EMRC no later than 16 May 2011.
