The Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council (EMRC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Peter Schneider to the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective Monday 7 September 2009.
The appointment follows an intensive three-month Australia-wide recruitment process.
Mr Schneider brings extensive asset management, governance, and corporate services experience to the role, having previously worked in senior executive leadership positions in both local government and the private sector across a number of industries, including agribusiness, mining, and retailing.
"Mr Schneider's appointment brings valuable skills and experience to the organisation and these will be important in guiding future directions for EMRC and strengthening our relationship with member Councils," said EMRC Chairman, Cr David Fardig.
"EMRC takes pride in its track-record of past achievements but we are also looking forward to the future with a new CEO and a clear vision of our goals for the next five years."
Mr Schneider initially joined EMRC in 1998 as Executive Manager Corporate Services and Deputy CEO. He has been acting as the Chief Executive Officer of EMRC since September 2008.
"I am keen to grow the strategic importance of our organisation and stakeholders' key business areas over the coming five years, including resource recovery, municipal waste management, regional transport infrastructure and climate change," said Mr Schneider.
"Together we can develop regional initiatives which will individually and collectively benefit EMRC's six member Councils - Bassendean, Bayswater, Belmont, Kalamunda, Mundaring and Swan"
"I look forward to working with the member Councils and other stakeholders on a range of regional activities, to make Perth's Eastern Region a great place to live, work, play and do business."
