You will need to organise recycling well in advance with your waste contractor. The waste contractor will need to be informed about the number of waste and recycling bins required for the event and to coordinate logistical requirements in emptying the bins.
Bin placement, clear bin signage, regular reminders to patrons and vendors about recycling, and organized emptying of the bins during and after the event are crucial elements to ensure that recycling is maximised.

A 'Do the Right Thing' events recycling trailer is available for use by Councils and event organisers through Perth's Eastern Region. The Packaging Stewardship Forum has provided EMRC with a recycling trailer to help reduce litter and increase recycling of bottles and cans at regional and local events.
The trailer contains 20 bin caps for general rubbish bins and 20 bin caps for recycling bins. The high-top bin caps are brightly coloured and have clear graphics on them to show event participants what should go into bins. The caps are suitable for fitting on the standard 240L rubbish bin. The bin caps provide a strong visual aid in encouraging patrons to 'do the right thing' and how to dispose of rubbish responsibly. Banners highlighting event recycling to further encourage patrons are also included in the trailer and can be easily erected and dismantled.
Why use bin caps?
Providing clear bin signage is an important way of promoting where and what to put in general rubbish and recycling bins. A common barrier preventing people from recycling correctly in public places is being unfamiliar with what should go into recycling bins which can lead to bin contamination, or minimal use of recycling bins.
