The Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council (EMRC) announces the members of its newly-formed Community Task Force with the advent of a public forum to be held on 18 September 2010.
EMRC established the taskforce to lead development of a Community Partnership Agreement (CPA) in relation to the establishment of a resource recovery facility which will be discussed at the public forum.
A total of 15 nominations were received for eight community places on the Community Task Force.
EMRC Chairman, Cr Graham Pittaway OAM embraces the initiative, "We are pleased at the response and would like to welcome Martin Chape from Bellevue, Noel Hales from Hazelmere, Jan Foster-Hawking and Peter Jensen from Gidgegannup, Max Jamieson from Helena Valley, Greg Jones from Stoneville, Peter Pearson from Bassendean and Noelene Wigmore from Parkerville," he said.
"These eight community members bring a diverse range of experience and expertise to the task force and we look forward to working with them over the next year.
"This agreement will outline the community's expectations in relation to the development and operation of the proposed resource recovery facility," said Cr Pittaway.
The planned facility will be built at the Red Hill Waste Management Facility and will process household waste from EMRC's six-member council areas: Bassendean, Bayswater, Belmont, Kalamunda, Mundaring and Swan.
EMRC and the Community Task Force are hosting a Community Forum at Rose Hill Lodge, South Guildford on Saturday September 18th, 2010 between 12 noon - 4.00pm.
The forum provides eastern suburbs residents with an opportunity to provide immediate and direct input into the development of the CPA and the planned resource recovery facility. Attendees are required to register their attendance by emailing resourcerecovery@emrc.org.au or phoning (08) 9424 2222.
The Resource Recovery Project is being undertaken to divert household waste from landfill and to create marketable commodities from rubbish such as compost and energy.
