The Shire of Kalamunda District Conservation Strategy (DCS) published in 1995 was a joint project between the Shire and the community to identify important environmental issues and develop effective strategies for their management. The DCS has been the main driver of the Shire's environmental projects and actions during the past 10 years.
The DCS review takes stock of the achievements made through the DCS and establish a strategy that builds on the work of the DCS and provides direction for future years.
A review of both external and internal policies and practices was conducted to gauge current environmental projects undertaken by the Shire and any important outstanding actions.
As a result of the DCS review an Environmental Sustainability Plan is proposed. This plan provides an up-to-date document to guide environmental management activities within the Shire of Kalamunda. It reflects the environmental issues of major concern to the local community and suggests a series of recommendations or actions for implementation.
