The Hazelmere Recycling Centre recovers and processes industrial timber waste so it can be diverted from landfill and recycled as a reusable woodchip.
The centre, operated by the EMRC, opened in 2008 and is the only one of its kind in Western Australia.
The centre aims to recycle at least 10,000 tonnes per year.
The timber processed at the centre would previously be destined for landfill, but is now reused in particleboard, animal bedding, mulch and compost.
