The Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council (EMRC) has gained industry and peer recognition for its achievements in water conservation and efficiency at two recent awards ceremonies.
EMRC won the Conservation and Efficiency Award at the annual WA Water Awards 2011, held on Friday 25 November in Perth. The Conservation and Efficiency Award recognised excellence of new products, programs or services to improve and encourage water conservation. EMRC was recognised for providing accredited water efficiency audits, resulting in savings of both water and money to local governments and other organisations.
Furthermore, EMRC was announced as a finalist at the WA Water Awards 2011 in the Waterwise Specialist Award, which acknowledged water industry professionals who have demonstrated effective waterwise practices and displayed initiative in educating staff and the community.
EMRC was also recently named a finalist in the National 2011 Save Water! Awards®. The Savewater! Awards® are Australia's leading awards for water sustainability. These prestigious awards recognise and reward excellence in water conservation and efficiency by business, government, schools, local communities, and individuals. This year, the awards attracted over 1,000 applications from 40 countries around the world.
EMRC was one of three finalists in the government category for its project 'Water Collaboration in Action - a collaborative approach to progressing the reduction of water use in local government through the Water Campaign'.
