Waste management in Perth’s Eastern Region enters a new phase today (1 July) with the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council (EMRC) assuming operational management of the Baywaste Transfer Station at 271 Collier Road, Morley.
‘It’s the opening of a significant new era for the EMRC and the City of Bayswater,’ said EMRC CEO Marcus Geisler.
‘While the EMRC will use its expertise to run the site safely and efficiently on behalf of Bayswater residents, we’re also looking forward to introducing a whole raft of improvements designed to help the City reach Western Australia’s Waste and Resource Recovery targets.’
Improvements planned include new weighbridge technology, quicker turnaround times for commercial operators, new signage and improvements in customer service.
At its May 2020 meeting, the City of Bayswater resolved to enter into an arrangement with the EMRC to operate the transfer station on behalf of the City for a six-month trial period.
From 1 July, the EMRC will provide skip bins for segregation and recycling of metals, cardboard, waste oil, lead acid batteries and e-waste.
CEO Marcus Geisler continued, ‘We look forward to welcoming new and existing customers to the facility and exploring added services to benefit the City of Bayswater and the Eastern Region.’
