The EMRC advises that scheduled blasting activities will take place at the Red Hill Waste Management Facility as part of the ongoing development of the Stage 18 Landfill Cell.

🔔 Please note that the blast, originally scheduled for Wednesday, 24 September 2025 between 12:00 PM and 5:00 PM, has now been confirmed to occur on Friday, 26 September 2025, between 4:00 PM and 4:15 PM. Additionally, please be informed that another blast is scheduled for Thursday, 2 October, between 4:00 PM and 4:30 PM.
These works are essential for the removal of a dolerite rock outcrop and will be conducted under strict safety and environmental controls, including:
- A 150-metre exclusion zone will be established and actively monitored by qualified blast guards.
- An audible siren will sound 30 seconds prior to detonation.
- Each blast will be fully covered with a minimum of 1.5 metres of clay or soil, effectively containing flyrock and airblast, and mitigating noise.
- Ground vibration and air overpressure will be continuously monitored using specialised equipment.
The likelihood of any impact to surrounding properties or residents is minimal.
