Waste Management Community Reference Group
The Waste Management Community Reference Group (WMCRG) was created in 2002 to provide informed advice and feedback to the EMRC on waste management and waste education issues. Members are mostly residents from within the areas covered by the EMRC's member Councils.
Since its inception, the WMCRG has assisted the EMRC progress a number of important waste education and waste communication initiatives, including:
- Playing a key role in providing community comment about the Resource Recovery Project since 2004.
- Contributing to development of the wider community engagement process for the resource recovery project.
- Participating in all community and regional workshops relevant to the resource recovery project.
- Providing feedback on the EMRC's ongoing Waste Education Strategy.
- Providing feedback on waste education communication material including the resource recovery guides and community advertising.
For many years the group has met monthly. It now meets twice per year and is still active in providing feedback to the EMRC.
The WMCRG currently comprises 7 community members.
