Scouts, cyclists, young football players and a primary school are among a record number of successful applicants for the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council (EMRC) 2020/2021 Community Grants Program, who received their grants at the EMRC’s Red Hill Waste Management Facility today (Friday, 30 October 2020).
The EMRC is an active supporter of communities neighbouring Red Hill, supporting groups with grants of up to $3,000 for projects benefiting the Gidgegannup, Hovea, Parkerville and/or Stoneville communities.
This year’s program doubled the previous application limit from $1,500 to $3,000 and simplified the application process to encourage more applications. The result was a doubling of successful applications from three in 2019/2020 to six in 2020/2021.
This year’s successful community groups are:
- X Speed Australia Cycle Club
- Gidgegannup Primary School P&C Association
- Gidgegannup Scout Group
- Silvertree Steiner School
- Gidgegannup JFC
- Stoneville-Parkville Progress Association
Applicants from the groups were congratulated by the EMRC’s CEO Marcus Geisler and EMRC Chairman Jai Wilson.
Mr Geisler said: “These groups are all passionate, committed supporters of their local communities. It is fantastic to be able to contribute in some way to supporting these activities.
“Seeing the gratitude and hearing the wonderful ways these grants can benefit the community is very encouraging,” said Mr Geisler.
The EMRC operates the Red Hill Waste Management Facility on behalf of its six member Councils – Town of Bassendean, City of Bayswater, City of Belmont, City of Kalamunda, Shire of Mundaring and City of Swan.
